Making Sense of How Americans Make Sense of War

The Hallock Endowment For Military History

The Hallock Endowment

With CSU President Stuart Rayfield, Mrs. Myriam Hallock, and LTG (ret) Ben Hodges at the 2024 COL Richard R. Hallock Distinguished Lecture

Established in 2010, the Col. Richard R. Hallock Endowment for Military History has positioned Columbus State University as a nationally recognized destination for students, historians and members of the Chattahoochee Valley community interested in deepening their understanding of the military, those who serve in it, the wars it fights and its place in U.S. culture.

As the Hallock Chair, I organize an annual series of lectures and panel discussions on U.S. Military History. Past themes have included the US War in Iraq, US / Korean relations since 1950, and the United States and the Second World War. I also organize our annual COL Richard R. Hallock Distinguished Lecture, which brings to Columbus a prominent thinker on matters of national security. You can learn more about those events and our upcoming 2025-26 series on the US War in Vietnam by clicking HERE.

I also work the Columbus State University Archives to develop our military history archives, and I partner closely with public history venues in Columbus, including the National Infantry Museum, the US Army Armor & Cavalry Collection, and the National Civil War Naval Museum to collaborate on programming and provide internship opportunities for my students.
